Four people have been taken to hospital following an illegal rave in South Wales, with over 1000 attendees taking over an industrial estate in South Wales across the Easter bank holiday weekend.
The cause of the hospitalisations is unknown, though attendees reported “semi-conscious bodies” visible along the road leading to the event.
The annual event named ‘EggTek’ moves location each year, having previously run in Bristol and Dorset.
This year’s EggTek took place in South Wales from Saturday through to Sunday at Kenfig Industrial Estate, Margam, Port Talbot.
Images circulating online show many soundsystems across the industrial estate, including one decorated with Easter eggs and a chicken.
The first report of the rave was called over to South Wales Police at 11:40PM on April 8.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Travis said: “Initial reports indicated that in excess of 1000 people and 70 vehicles are in attendance.”
ACC Travis also reported that the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene after the call explaining that three people were taken to hospital but none were seriously injured.
At 16:47 on Sunday, the South Wales Police posted the following update: “One further person has been taken to hospital with non-serious injuries. A small number of vehicles and people remain.”
According to The Telegraph some ravers travelled more than 200 miles to attend the unlicensed event.
One raver told Wales Online, that he had travelled four hours to the event saying: “Everyone sends their numbers in on the social media group and then everyone gets a group text saying: ‘Ring this number on this day.’ Then on the phone line it gives you a general area to go to. Last night it said: ‘Head to Bristol area.’”
People began to leave EggTek on Sunday afternoon with no arrests made, according to South Wales Police.
