Berlin’s Renate announces four new residents

Berlin club Renate has announced four new resident DJs.

Regularly gracing the various booths in the sprawling Friedrichshain club will be Berlin

mainstays Ady ToledanoRinse FM resident Amy DabbsFrozilla and Vio PRG, according to RA reporting.

They join the roster alongside long time residents Johannes AlbertJuan Ramos and S Ruston.

The move comes from the club’s booker, Rose Mardit who told RA: “I’m honoured to carry forward the legacy established by the previous booker, and excited by the opportunity to welcome some newer faces to the club.

“At Renate, we celebrate and nurture local talent every weekend,” she continued. “I look forward to seeing how these fresh additions to the resident’s roster will help the sound of our floors continue to develop.”

Dabbs took to Instagram to announce the news that she will become a resident. She wrote: “Absolutely gassed to announce I’ve officially joined the Renate family as a new resident!

“I’ve been a huge fan of the club for a very long time and have had some of my favourite gigs there,” she continued. “in fact my VERY favourite ever gig which was the last time I plated the Red Room and ended up spinning for 6 straight hours.

“It was absolutely out of this world being able to share that experience with people in there, I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d have rather been that in that booth the whole time I was on.”

Last month (March 2023), the team behind the venue announced the opening of a new 400-capacity club – called M01 – situated on the North side of the same building.

It had its first party on March 31, featuring Ed Davenport, Jahanam B2B DJ HAYDN, Prof.stranger and more.

Speaking to RA at the time of announcement, the M01’s booking director Alessandro Boni said: “While there are plenty of big clubs in Berlin, the city needs small venues for the community of DIY promoters and collectives here.

“We want to allow small, independently funded promoters to curate their own parties without the financial risk of working in larger spaces. So, M01 provides both an intimate setting and a financially viable opportunity to support their ideas.”
